Babul Supriyo was born in Kolkata. He is a talented playback singer, whose singing style is similar to that of the noted playback singer, Kumar Sanu.
He comes from a musical background, with his grandfather, N. C. Boral, being a well-known composer in West Bengal. Following the path of normal children, he completed his education, finished his master's degree and on his father's insistence, took up a job with Standard Chartered Bank.
However, In 1991, following the call of his heart, he left his job and came to Mumbai for a break as a playback singer. Kalyanji gave him a break, and he soon got songs with other composers as well. Besides playback singing, he has also done several stage shows across the world.
Babul's repertoire of poular songs include Aati Hai To Chal (Saat Rang Ke Sapnay), Kaho Na Pyar Hai (Kaho Na Pyar Hai), Pari Pari Hai ek Pari(Hungama), Hum Tum (Hum Tum), Chanda Chamke (Fanaa), among others. He also anchored the popular television show 'K for Kishore'.
Babul is married with a daughter. He was estranged from his wife for some time in the past, but now they are back again, together.
