22 she shrabon. I sometime feel that I am not writing anything more about this movie. This date has such a magnitude. This date is such an important date in the context of bengali culture, society, literature. A date that unknowingly controlled how the future of bengali literature will be..in next "n" number of years.
Ya we all know that...but some times...22 she shrabon is a date that signifies some other dates that were eclipsed by the bigger star.
Poetry, some says, a culminating point of aesthetic pleasure.Flow is always contagious in life..and rhythmic flow is more contagious. But with rhythm, there comes a irresistable inclination towards rhythmic destruction, which sometimes human mind fail to perceive.
To me, baishe shrabon is not a mere thriller..its not a mere suspense story. As like srijit's earlier film autograph..you need to peel off the upper layer of the fruit to get the real essence of the film. You can be happy with the face value..ofcourse. But you will definitely get the real pleasure if you look beyond it.
Serial killing on the expiry dates of some emenant bengali poets..thats the basic of the outer layer of the theme. But if you dig deep inside.."jodi aro gobhire jaao"..then you will be able to see, the face of the society that is still searching answer for its lost identity. A society that is dying to embrace the beauty of life's flow..but stumbles upon some grey areas.
Sad but truth is, as a society, we want to leave the grey grey...we dont want to color it, nor even we want to make them black and white.
I generally try to refrain from analysing the actual story in the review. Acting wise, i think justice has been done to most of the roles. There are bound to be some ups and downs , sparks flowed and then again eerie silence followed. Prasenjit executed the silent destructive revenge part of his character very well. And yet to srijit's credit, Prasenjit was also able to make sure the audience understands the state of mind or reason that led to 22she shrabon.
Gautam ghosh, hungrealist movement, halucination..rabindranath. Ya, somehow, lot of sequences of our life culminates in rabindranath. Ever existence, omnipresent. But at the samepoint..exposes the limitation of the society. We forget 23rd october, we forget 29th June, but we remember 22she shrabon.
Parambrata and Raima, both were good, personally I liked Param better, and Rajesh Sharma was superb as well. Execution of various expressions was important in this film, so that the rhythm does not get disturbed, and to a large extent, I think the rhythm did not get disturbed.
