    By nature I am an out-and-out Hindi Film Lover. I love to watch all sort of Hindi Films, right from Masala Potboilers to Multi-Starrer Flicks to Offbeat cinema to Crappy trash. I cherish them because I adapt myself to the theme of that particular film and thus help myself attune to its sensibilties. If it’s a Masala Entertainer I watch it like a front-bencher and never hesitate in enjoying the mindless fun. Similarly if it’s a offbeat film I try to match my wits with the director’s intellect.     Swamped by reviews that are going gaga over a movie tends to colour one’s view, but the good thing about that is it gives a chance to see things through a more critical eye.

    Barfi’s world has a lot of colours and textures, varied landscape...it is a story of a journey.     Barfi can be esteemed the best creation by Anurag Basu so far. It is perhaps from his personal life he has unearthed the true philosophy of life that every moment has to be lived in vigor and vitality. Barfi is the name of a deaf and dumb youth, full of life, fun-making, impish, happy-go-lucky, pleasure-seeker or a hedonist in literal sense. He is the only son of a chauffeur of a rich family.     Barfi! is not just a movie, its a cinematic journey. It makes you fall in love with Cinema. It is simple and innocent.

    The movie has one of the most innovative starting credits. With a song playing in the background which asks the audience to switch off their mobiles, keep children in check and surrender to the movie.

    I saw Barfi and was astounded with the speed at which I was engulfed into Barfi’s world. He plays his character with a flourish which somehow latches on to the watcher.

    Love is singularly the most powerful energy in this world. Love transcends.

    Those who are filled with love have overcome the inhibitions and preconceptions of their lives. They can sing, laugh—the madness of saintliness. True love is an act of total surrender—NO conditions, NO expectations. With such love Barfi has no fear of loss.

    Rather than the thoughtless degraded comedy that Bollywood comes up with nowadays, 'Barfi!' is a slapstick comic story of small town 'mute and deaf' boy who comes of age and his innocence with which he views his world and the people around with a (kind of Woody Allen genre but not so perfect) blend of mystery.     Brilliant!Barfi is Brilliant.
    The film has everything in perfect balance...makes you hold back your tears and gives you many a lol moment.The sweetness is just right.
    The story is not at all a happy one-an undercurrent of sadness runs through the entire film as the differently abled people try to find their love and space in the everyday world.Barfi's(Ranbir Kapoor)tramp like antics,his ability to spread smiles,his innovative method of measuring friendship and the wild goose chase with the police officer(Saurabh Shukla)has the audience in splits.

    This is for my friends who had asked me to tell them about BARFI! -I declare it a SUPERHIT!...:) also for the first time I found people clapping after a scene not like the way we do in movies but like the way we do after a powerful scene in a theatre (play). Barfi! is spreading its sweetness all around. In spite of dealing with an unconventional subject and without the typical box- office success formula, the film is doing great. The protagonist has no dialogues -- still Ranbir Kapoor as happy-go-lucky deaf and mute guy has touched the heartstrings of the viewers and they are thronging the cinema halls giving it an overwhelming openin1g.

Rakesh Sippy of Raksha Entertainment Pvt Ltd told IANS that Barfi! has "opened pretty well in multiplexes and in other cities".

"In fact, the film had around 90 to 100 percent occupancy for the morning shows. It is doing exceptionally well. The film will pick up by word of mouth," he added.
