    Nazma (Smita Patil) lives with Akhtar Husain (Bharat Kapoor) who is dependent on Shaukat Ali Khan (Javed) who has his own business in Dubai and comes here frequently. He has his own place where Akhtar lives. Shayar Salim (Naseeruddin Shah) loves Nazma. As Shaukat Ali arrives from Dubai he is pleased to see Nazma and thinks of marrying her. Akhtar, his good friend volunteers to find him a bride from Hyderabad. He tells this to Nazma who gets angry with him. But Akhtar has to listen to Shaukat and tells Nazma of his helplessness. Salim dislikes Akhtar and Shaukat and tries to get Nazma out of their influence. Sajid (Faroque Shaikh) and Shabnam (Supriya Pathak) love each other. Sajid & Shabnam are from poor families. As Sajid has not been able to do anything for himself he tries to do everything for Shabnam to win her love. Nazma with everyone arrives in Hyderabad. Nazma goes to her mother's place and apologises to her. She then goes to look for a bride for Shaukat Ali. Nazma arranges a party where she invites Sajid and Shabnam. In the first glance Shaukat falls in love with Shabnam. But Nazma doesn't know the real story and approaches Shabnam. The parents are agreeable for the marriage. Salim gets upset and reveals everything to Shaukat, Nazma, & Akhtar. Shabnam gets married. When Nazma comes to know the real story, she is full of remorse. She leaves Akhtar and sees Salim's true self.
