I had read somewhere that at the announcement of ‘Sholay’ distributors were not keen to see Amitabh Bachchan in the films team. But at that time the Ace writers – Salim Javed said ‘Yeh Hero Lambi Race Ka Ghoda Hai’. They were indeed so right, it’s been so many decades and yet this Fantastic Actor Amitabh Bachchan keeps giving us something or another in name of his films. He ruled the box office for initial decades and at many times gave tough fight to the hero’s who were half of his age and even low. We have witnessed Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and other actor’s era, but no one comes close to what Amitabh Bachchan has done. He has touched the inner nerve of his audience at many given points. The aura which he has witnessed in 70’s and 80’s till early 90’s is something beyond imagination for today’s ace superstars. There was some bad times, with choice of some average films, but he shot back in his new avatar as the old man, who at times was angry and most of the times the wise man. In between there were some films which might have been for some friendly obligations or his belief in the director, which dint do well and at all those times the critics and haters had their laugh by saying ‘ it’s over for him’. But whenever someone said that, he has shot back with bang. So after a long gap he comes back with his latest flick, which is said to be a solo release with loads of action and angry man image. Hum will it work in today’s times? Will the age chapter affect the film and the superstar image? Let’s find out.

“Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap” is story of A.C.P Karan {Sonu Sood}, who decides to finish off the whole gang of goons lead by Kabir {Prakash Raj}. Kabir decides to assassinate Karan and thus enters Viju {Amitabh Bachchan} a hard core criminal in past. Viju hates when someone calls him Bbuddah, he prefers to be cool and young by heart. He meets Tanya {Sonal} and Amrita {Charmee} and becomes friends with them. What does Viju do to reach near Karan and in the gang of Kabir is the entire film about.

Story is one liner and has some expected moves. But it’s the screenplay which does wonders for this film. There are some good twist and turns in the film, especially in the second half. The movie has loads and loads of enjoyable scenes like The Intro Scene of Amitabh Bachchan at the airport, Amitabh Bachchan meeting the Landlady, His meet with Rajeev Varma, Chat with Charmee, His interaction with Makrand, Amitabh Bachchan saving the girls from the goons, Raveena Chapter, Makarand – Mafia Founder scene, The whole goons meet, Sonu-Amitabh Bachchan Phone Chat, Amitabh meeting Hema Malini at a coffee shop, Amitabh Bachchan meeting Prakash Raj, The whole Chidiya Story for goons, followed by Amitabh Bachchan confusing Prakash Raj and his men’s, Climax fight and Hema scene in the last. On the flip side the whole movie had a heavy south Indian touch over it, most of the supporting actors, fighting style, etc reminds you of loads of dubbed south Indian films. The whole Sonu Sood-Sonal chapter was weak and at times not gelling with the flow of the film, followed by the bit of hurried climax. But then these points are minute in front of the Amitabh Bachchan who carries the film over his strong shoulders and charms you with his fantastic dialogs, style, appearance, attitude and charisma. Dialogs of this film are outstanding. Cool Ka Mein School, Hum Jaha Khade Hote Hai, Ek Baar Marna Shuru, Beep Ki Beep, Duniya Mein Do Tarah Ke Log, Lagushanka, Chala Chala Goli, Chai Coffee Soda Mein Acchi Nahi lagti, Usi Ched Mein Goli, DNA and many more will be remember forever. Camera work is pretty low and technically not great. Editing is crisp and up to the mark, except at Sonu Sood – Sonal chapter.

Music by Vishal Shekhar is good. Haal E Dil is the best of the lot, followed by Go Meera Go which is a visual treat, the title song is wasted in the credit titles. Chandigarh Di Star is in background.

Puri Jagannadh claims to be Amitabh Bachchan fan and tried his level best to get the Aura of Amitabh Bachchan the superstar angry man back. Well kudos to him as he succeeds fully in it. He gives the Super star everything required from fantastic dialogs, getups, one liner, and good action scenes. Wished he had concentrated bit more over the looks of the film and the other track which in compared to Amitabh Bachchan track looked bit low. He knows what a fan wants from his superstar and thus gives the viewers what they want.

Amitabh Bachchan has proved at many times that he is the best, best and best. He has ruled the box office in his initial decades, followed by experimenting the unexplored arenas in his latest innings. Out here he tries to stratify all the people who have loved him and grown up on his film. Check his style, grace, screen presence, attitude, dialog delivery, appearance and charisma and you will understand what I meant. At this age he is so energetic, Sexy and Super cool. Hema Malini in small role was nice. Sonu Sood looked great, but his story was not up to mark. Raveena Tandon looked super and had an interesting part. Prakash Raj is nice and tries to repeat his ‘Wanted’ character. Makrand Deshpande and Charmee gave good support. Sonal was not up to the mark.

So bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hai Dum ?

Dum?? Boss it’s a total Duma Dum film especially for all Amitabh Bachchan fans. Salim Javed will still feel proud for this ‘Ace Lambi Lambi Lambi Race Ka Ghoda’. Yes the film is typical Masala Entertainer and all those so called intellectuals might find some or another fault in this film. But I would request them to go to their adolescence or innocence age and if at any point they have loved even one of Amitabh Bachchan film, then enjoy it as an AB fan and not a critic. The film has good repeat value for all those who love Masala entertainer or Amitabh Bachchan fans. My final line will be in this Hindi Film Industry – Log aaate hai, Log jaate hai, Lekin ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ The, Hai and Hamesh Rahenge. Our love for him is in our D.N.A and we are proud of it.
