Many films have been made on the topic of the Bar Dancers and Hotels running on them. Some are successful and others didn’t make any mark on the box-office. The same happened with this poor film, released in the wrong time alongside big banner films. Although this film appeared in the wrong time but I believe that if it is happened to be not then I am sure the audiences will get to enjoy this film thoroughly, and this film could get some recognition.
As per the title of the film, the story is being said through the eyes of the two innocent people “Benny & Babloo” (Kay Kay Menon & Rajpal Yadav) who are living in some chawl in Mumbai and are working as waiters in some old Parsi Café. Soon they were jobless as the Parsi Café was being sold out to some Pizza Co. But due to God’s grace Benny & Babloo got the job but on the different locations. Benny was being appointed in a Five Star Hotel as Bellboy, and Babloo and was being appointed as a waiter in a local Restaurant named as ‘Ghunghroo Bar & Restaurant’. Now as the story was moving, Benny was experiencing many facts and illegal activities happening under the roof of the highly sophisticated place. Innocent Benny was feeling very upset after watching the real world. On the other side, Babloo was initially feeling very awkward and feeling bad that where he has landed in the middle of the Bar girls and drunken people. But later he experienced that this world isn’t that bad of what he was thinking.
Now the story moves further with the comparison between the local bar & restaurant with the highly sophisticated five star hotels through the eyes of the two innocent people ‘Benny & Babloo’.
The story and the concept is being chosen and presented very well by the Writer and the Director, Yunus Sajawal, of the film ‘Benny and Babloo’. Yunus has written many hit films like ‘Do Knot Disturb’ and ‘All the Best’ but had made a debut in the direction department through his this film, and had also scored good marks in this. The main key point for liking this film is its execution. The way Yunus has executed through its script and its direction is simply marvelous, enjoyable and funny too. The way writer-director has compared the two real worlds, I think it will definitely change one perspective of their thinking about these worlds. The makers has shown us the facts of life what is happening, why it is happening, and what the society has portrayed the image in front of us which is totally fake on the outside if we get to know what is there in the inside. And the makers and just said the truth and presented us the facts through this film which we know somehow but always tend to ignore as we had been portrayed different image in our mind through our so called society. Hats off to the Writer-Director that he has changed the perspective of our thinking through this film.
Dialogues were funny, all the scenes had something message or something to say real, overall nice and decent performances by all, especially Kay Kay Menon was super and Rajpal Yadav was at its best. Music was Ok, and the rest of the technicalities were also pleasant.
Strongly recommended to change a little bit of point of view for all those who are still praising Five Star Hotels and still thanking god that such Ghunghroo Bar & Restaurant have been closed down.
