BENNY AND BABLOO, is an attempt to convey the stark truth of prevailing society in Mumbai City today, in a light hearted manner.
This is a story of two good at heart guys, who hail from rural areas of India, named Benny and Babloo.
Both come down to the commercial nerve centre, Mumbai to bring about the much needed fiscal growth in their respective lives.
Being not too educated, they start to work at a typical Mumbai style Irani restaurant in mid town, knowing little that their happy stint at working there is about to end soon.
As the time changes – so does the trend.
Thus the paani kam chai and maska pav makes way for cappuccinos & pizzas.
The newly reforming restaurant culture of Mumbai city, eats up the Irani restaurant and makes way for a pizza parlour.
Thus starts the want for a new job for Benny and Babloo, which ends up no sooner than it arises.
But with a small twist in the tale.
With the correct reference, Benny bags a job as a bell boy at a suburban five star hotel and Babloo on the other hand has to make do with a waiter’s job at a ladies service beer bar.
Slowly Benny’s pride to wear the coveted uniform of the hotel, which flaunts the better part of the society, makes Babloo his target to ridicule the not so good part of the same.
His pride though starts to fade with passing time.
Reality strikes with the discovery of the life hidden behind fake tag of the five star hotels, which is worse than the bare truth of the ladies bars.
Benny witnesses innumerable social evils easily available at the blink of an eye, starting from drug abuse to political facades to prostitution carried in the name of escort services etc.
At this juncture Benny is in doldrums as his mocked friend Babloo and his life at the ladies bar seemed to be a tad better than his own life eventually.
Both Benny and Babloo realize that they were sailing in the same boat, though were different to look at from a distance.
They were working at places with distinctly different exteriors & general perceptions but very similar & dark interiors.
What they do in order to reform their lives and bring about a change, post this point is what sums up the harsh but true story.
