Bhavnao Ko Samjho rating: 2 out of 10(Pravir wrote on 23 Feb 2010)

A film made with a primary intention to secure a place in the record books to use maximum number of stand up comedians straight from the laughter challenges. Sunil Pal has surely successful in giving us a big headache with this extravaganza…

Sunderlal (Sunil Pal) is the sole survivor son of Seth Himmatlal (Dinesh Hingoo). Seth ji is worried about the bad habits and irresponsible behavior of Sunderlal and also the future of his granddaughter Suman (Sanghmitra). His legal advisor Phansiwala (Ehsaan Qureshi) is also on Sunderlal’s side. One day Seth ji passes away, but not before passing on everything to Suman. Enraged Sunderlal tries to hatch a conspiracy to marry her off to some of his aid and take over the property afterwards. Phansiwala is also in queue to marry her. In the meantime a struggler Shekhar (Naveen Prabhakar) comes in Suman’s life, but Sunderlal wants him to stay away from Suman. Sunderlal had also taken hefty loan from a moneylender Daya (Raju Srivastava) and is not able to pay him back. How all these issues are resolved and things fall in place is what is described next…

Sunil Pal has taken over so much responsibility on himself, right from producing, directing, story, screenplay, dialogue writing and playing the lead as well, that he looses focus altogether. The film flows at a slow pace all through and never rises above an average level. It is supposed to be a comedy, completely devoid of comic sequences. Dialogues are uninspiring. The story doesn’t have the bandwidth to accommodate 51 comedians in it’s runtime, and except for around 10 of them, remaining are used as extras, popping up from nowhere. Only a few scenes with Raju Srivastava and Ehsaan Qureshi work, rest is plain bad.

Performances: None of the “actor” is able to perform on this weak writing. Raju and Ehsaan, though repetitive in their act, are the saving grace in this otherwise uninspiring fauj of comedians.

Music: Songs also seem forced and are at par with the script. Below average.
