Princess Bidyabati was the worst woman of Kusumpur. She was so proud of her knowledge that she was made a solemn now that if anybody could defeat her in a debate she would marry him. Many princes came and tried to defeat her but they all failed. So the king became reluctant about her daughter's marriage. At last one day the king sent his counsellor Gangabhat of Kantipur to discuss about the possibility of the marriage between Bidyabati and Sundar. Hearing about the beauty and knowledge, Sundar went in disguise to meet Bidyabati. Reaching Kanchipur Sundar was able to meet the female gardener. She took her to her garden. Sundar made a beautiful garland for Bidyabati. The gardener took that garland to Bidyabati. Watching that beautiful garland Bidyabati was interested to meet Sundar. Sundar also wanted to meet her. The gardener fulfilled their wish. By the sheer power of magical formula, Sundar was able to enter the inner house of the princes. The associates of princes thought him to be a thief. Sundar was caught by them and was sentenced to death. But if the princes took anybody’s side, he could not be sentenced to death. Anyway he was punished but the punishment was very sweet.
