Overall I think Billu Barber is an average movie. Its a kind of movie you will watch once happily, but will not remember after a while, or will not put an impact in your mind. The emotional extraction process of sympathy in audience's mind is something director's thrive on for the success of the movuie. But along with that, some naturalistic acting is required as well. Some of the dialogue throws or sequences are too predictable like the 90s movies. SRK is going down-hill movie by movie. He has to change his outlook, and performances, and of course his own mental state ... » read more

    When Priyadarshan met SRK!

The present generation knows Priyadarshan for his mad capers, but there was a time when he used to make simple films with down to earth stories. Billu, though a little reckless and lacking consisitency, reminds us of the Priyadarshan of those days.

Billu is the story of Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irfan Khan) who is a small time barber in a village named Budbuda. He makes his ends meet with a lot of credit, attracting a lot of humiliation & contempt from his fellow villagers.
One day his life changes when his childhood friend & superstar ... » read more

    Billu Actually Bhayankar

I did not have much expectations from this movie. Reason being the kind of fare that Priyadarshan has been dishing out in the last couple of years – Chup Chup Ke, Dhol, Bhagam Bhaag, Mere Baap Pehle Aap. The problem with this could-have-been-maestro (remember Muskurahat, Saza-E-Kala Paani, Gardish, Virasat) is that post Hera Pheri, he’s got so much stuck in the comedy mould that even in a movie demanding serious treatment, you see usual suspects like Asrani, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav et al indulging in physical comedy. Mind you, we all just ... » read more

    Billu & Baadshah

A nightmare called “Kuselan” kept haunting its re-makers, forcing them to keep the superstar guest appearance extending…and further extending with an item song at each drop of the hat…

Bilasrao Pardesi a.k.a. Billu (Irrfan) had once married a girl Bindiya (Lara) belonging to a different caste and hence was forced to leave his ancestral village. He moved to village Budbuda and opened a b***** shop there. Time takes a leap and now he is a father of two kids Gunja and Duggu (Mitali and Pratik), but he doesn’t wish to change with the advancing ... » read more

I remember Priyadarshan first came into national prominence with Saaza e Kaala Pani. Probably that was his first Hindi (or dual language ?) film. Then came Virasat and people took notice. What a fine performance from Tabu in Virasat!.

Then Priyadarshan changed his style and moved to comedy movies. Hera Pheri was perhaps the best comedy movie I watched in many years. Paresh Rawal was absolutely superb, Om Puri was brilliant. Even the dumb Sunil Shetty fit nto his role nicely. The situational comedy and dialogues made the movie a gem to watch.

    Unfortuately ... » read more

"BILLU ko BARBER na Kehna .. "

The Khan Jodi [Shah Rukh and Gauri] did an amazing job to give the movie its 'much wanted' preview hype by smoking the 'naming' controversy. ha ha what an amazing way to earn some brownie points for a mileage.....
Of late [splly after Hera Pheris and Hulchuls] i have had a lot of expectations from Mr Priyadarshan and thats primarily and mostly why i chose to go watch this movie at a theater and not for the hyped brand name called -Shah Rukh. Theres nothing very remarkable that i call recall just now except for the fact that ... » read more

This movie is real fun to watch. The barbar of Budbuda village has a past which he does not want to disclose , but the people of Budbuda came to know of his link with a star of filmdom. He had to face both greetings and misary due to this. After lot of humiliation the humble man achieved something which he could not have dreamt of. The actors are good rather casting is remarkable, ,direction is very good. Songs are not too good nor bad. I liked the movie and may watch again later after some time. » read more

    Hi Friendzzz,
I juzz saw Billu BARBER ; story wise its basically a modern day Krishna-Sudama Story. Thats a good story having a storng emotion in the climax. However the problem with the film is that Priyadarsdhan tried to make a comedy film but COULD NOT. The film drags on with songs appearing randomly without any meaning. Also the film drags due to lack of gripping content. Overall very repetative and boring!!!
Irfan proved he is a better actor than SRK in the climax scenes. » read more

Typical Priyadarshan film, where I can say that he has added with some extra flavour if we compare with his older movies. As usual Sharukh was fabulous, and as I am his great fan I will but obvious like his every movie. But on a frank note, this movie is really good to watch. But as an SRK fan I would like to also say that please watch this film only for Irfaan Khan. Spectacular performance delivered by him. I like the climax scene where Sharukh comes to Billu’s house, very emotional and very touchy. Direction was Ok but the music and its respective video is something ... » read more

Billu Barber, oopss sorry, I mean to say Billu with a Beep tone is a very good film. Even if you watch it twice or thrice I am sure you would love to watch it again. The music is such that you would love to listen it and even can watch it whenever it comes in front of you. Irfaan Khan’s performance was remarkable. Lara is good as modern girl wearing mini’s, the taste of a village girl is not her taste actually. After watching the film I was stunned that Barber thing controversy was something useless, there was nothing such bad thing shown related to Barber. But anyways, ... » read more
