The black and white painting has a story to tell……..
Shalini, the daughter of a very rich father always wished to be an artist. Shalini was brought up in Goa…. She joins the post-grad institute of arts to pursue her artistic ambitions. It is here that she meets Kevin.
Kevin came from a modest background and was a brilliant painter. Shalini though was better…..Shalini’s paintings always had a story to tell. Every year the institute sent a final year artist to the centre at Louvre on scholarship……this year Shalini is selected…..
Kevin and Shalini decide to elope as Shalini’s rich father was against her marrying Kevin. They decide to run away. Kevin waits at the designated place where Shalini is supposed to join him. Shalini does not turn up. Assuming that Shalini has had a change of heart, Kevin feels cheated and decides to leave Goa forever.

    8 years later…..
They meet again , both caught in respective taxis in one of Mumbai’s traffic jams. Shalini takes Kevin home. Kevin discovers that Shalini has pursued her ambition of painting, and had become a successful painter.
    She did originals.
Kevin too had his bit of success as a painter,
    but He made copies.
That evening, they catch up on the 8 years of separation, drinking...
Shalini is still in love with him. Kevin has moved on.
Today, Shalini’s life is a wreck. Her father has lost all his wealth, she is married off to a boy chosen by her father. The marriage does not work and they are separated.
She now lives alone in Mumbai surviving on the income from her paintings. Though she still loves Kevin, she holds him responsible for her wretched life.
The conversations turns into a heated discussion. Kevin, unable to take it anymore, leaves her apartment. He spends the night in a bar mulling over the events of the evening and eventually returns to Shalini’s apartment in the morning, to find her murdered…….
Being the last person to have been with Shalini, all circumstantial evidence is against him…..however Kevin has one very strong alibi.
The commissioner of police takes a keen interest in the investigation. He commissions an unofficial investigation, due to a vested personal interest. For this he approaches a retired Barrister and his friend Nilesh Bhargav. Nilesh begins putting the pieces of the fractured tale during the course of his investigation.
He is surprised to discover that Kevin may not be the only suspect.
Nilesh inspects an unfinished painting in Shalini’s apartment. He is convinced that the mystery of Shalini’s death is hidden in it.
Through Nilesh, the mystery of Shalini’s life is unveiled.
