Excellent performances make it so lively...
Sequels generally always have a number attached to it or at least have some part of the name in the sequels as well. But the film which was supposed to be called Prem Amar 2 neither is a sequel nor retains any part of the original name and has in fact become Bojhena Se Bojhena. This is because the star cast is much bigger now comprising of Soham, Abir Chatterjee , Payel Sarkar and newcomer Mimi Chakrabarty.
After Dui Prithibi, Raja again makes a road film, but with a difference. The film is about the travellers of two buses who lead different lives, but very simple lives. Just like we see a young couple very much in love, we also see a more younger couple trying to fall in love. We also see a group of young school girls going back victorious with a trophy. While they are all travellers in a bus, the film is essentially about two couples –Aveek and Jui and Noor and Rhea. Jui is a complete small town girl who comes across Aveek when she lands up in Kolkata for an interview and their paths cross. They spend the day together in a strange manner, but it does leave an impression specially on Jui's mind though the couple hardly know each other. They again get to meet each other, but under tragic circumstances. The second couple, Noor and Rhea are actually in love with Noor trying to woo Rhea and Rhea then coming in to Noor’s life and completely taking over his life. Everyone in the bus is on a journey including the man who had promised his little daughter of bringing toys for her when he goes back home. It is just that that they have no idea what fate has in store for them.
BSN is a wonderful tragic story told well which comes alive thanks to the performances of the leads. While Abir is okay, it is the other 3 leads who are simply excellent. Payel as Jui , the small town girl from Balurghat is marvellous and behaves exactly the way and that a small town girl is expected to behave and look at life, Soham as Noor keeps up his goody goody simpleton image who lets Rhea dominate him. Newcomer Mimi Chakrabarty is probably the find of this film because after 'Gaaner Oparey' and appearing in the recently released 'Bapi Bari Jaa', she has really showed her transition from a small TV actress to a big screen actress. As Rhea , she shows a lot of spunk and she is the man in the relationship who wears the pants and leads her boyfriend on a leash. She is just so natural and wonderful in her first major role. What also works is what affects us when we see severed limbs or the injured or dead travellers and we see their lives side by side and it tells us how lives can end in just a few seconds if fate has that in store for us. It tells us the value and makes things more realistic.
The music in the film is quite good and it is surprising to know that the music director is a newcomer ,Arindam Chatterjee who is an absolute kid though Indradeep Dasgupta has composed a couple of songs and the background score as well. The film works because even though it is a tragedy, the story itself is a little 'hatke' and because of the performances as mentioned earlier.
BSB is a good commercial film after a long time.
