  • BOL :: NOT A REVIEW, BUT A VIEW...

Bol rating: 8 out of 10(Akhtar Ali Sayyed wrote on 08 Sep 2011)

    BOL…

There was an era, when having a son in a family was the most important thing… now a days, we say that standard of living becomes so high that no gender discrimination is there… Women are having same rights as a man has… They have freedom of education, work and having a better life-style.

    Right?????
    Wrong…

The flight of the imagination we have only belongs to the Urbanised country. But still whenever we go to the rural areas or meet the people with the orthodox mentality, we will face the reality…. The cruel truth…

“BOL” is a courageous step which raises several questions…
I am not writing a review here, but I am expressing my views towards several issues raised in this journey of Two and half hours with BOL…

Do you remember SHOAIB MANSOOR…. Whose previous attempt, KHUDA KAY LIYE asked everyone a question, “IS EVERY MUSLIM A TERRORIST?”…

Now, he came up with another sensitive topic, “WOMEN RIGHTS”…

While conceptualizing BOL, Shoaib Mansoor tried to cover everything which he could…. Though being a Pakistani Director he has shown the life in poor Pakistani family and views and behavior of few orthodox people towards women.

With this movie, he raised some very important questions…

WHY HAVING A SON IN A FAMILY, IS TOO IMPORTANT FOR THE MALE OF THE FAMILY?
Why people always want a son in their family and don’t respect the daughters? In the desire of a son they don’t give importance to the girls’ birth in the family.

WHY PEOPLE BLAME WOMEN FOR A BIRTH OF A GIRL?
We all know that giving birth to a son or daughter totally depends on Male. Then why we always blame mothers for that. Why we curse the lady for something she is not responsible of.

IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD A CHILD, WHY DO YOU WANT IT?
If your family’s financial condition is not good, then why they keep giving birth to the children. Why do you leave the responsibility of new born baby’s growth on God? why we keep God responsible for everything happening in our life? Why we don’t take a responsibility of our own acts?

WHY MEN DO ANYTHING TO SAVE THEIR COUNTERFEIT REPUTAION?
Even they will not take their steps back, if they have to kill someone for this. And till what extent a man can drop himself down for hiding his crimes.
Shoaib took efforts to snatch the mask from the dirty faces of respectable people.

He tried very well to put a light on several issues like...
    GIRLS’ EDUCATION or WOMEN’S LITERACY…
He tried to show the importance of Women’s literacy in today’s world…

    MAN-WOMAN EQUALITY…
Why we always be dependent on Men for running the house, why can’t a woman contribute to run the family. Why there is gender biasness in this society? Why we don’t give the respect to the women be worthy of?

    LOVE…
How can be a love marriage ruin the reputation of a family? Why these oldies don’t accept love as one of the integral part of the society? Why people hate those who are in love?

Shoaib Mansoor tried to cover up everything with the help of very tight gripped story, supported by solid and matured performances.

HUMAIMA MALICK played a lead character, named Zainab. She did a justice with her character and succeeded to portray the questions the director wanted to ask.

MANZAR SEHBAI just made his character alive. You will literally feel to utter bad words for him.

ATIF ASLAM played a secondary role but his performance was too matured…
Rest characters were also good and suited in a story very well.

MUSIC was not a primary base of attraction of the movie… though the music by Shoaib Mansoor, Sajjad Ali and Atif Aslam, flew with the storyline very well.
For me, pick of the album was HONA THA PYAR…

I appreciate the efforts taken by the director, cast and crew to put a light on such a great topic.
Though it was made in Pakistan, but we can’t say that it’s a life in Muslim families only…. But it happens everywhere the education system is weak and people don’t understand the concept of WOMENISATION and WOMAN FREEDOM…

On the name of tradition people are ruining the life of girls. On the name of culture kill the emotions of women. On the name of society they are stealing the right of breathing of a woman.

BOL is a slap on the faces of sham reputed males.

It’s a courageous effort which represents the questions that every woman wanted to ask since long of the lifetime.

    And above all, it asks…

AGAR MAARNA JURM HAI, TOH PAIDA KARNA KYU NAHI???

I sincerely request everyone to watch this movie with your family at least for once…
and try to answer all the questions raised in the movie...
