After “Jackpot” director Kaushik Ganguly has given us a pure feel-good film in the form of “Brake Fail”. Throughout the 17 reels one would feel reading fairy tale, which does not happen in reality but occurs only sweet dreams.

The film is about five garage mechanics and a girl. The girl was first Hena, the transformed into Rupa and finally becomes Koel and again back to Hena. “Brake Fail” is journey of this girl from a poor village Hena to the fairy palace Koel via Kolkata’s Rupa.

The five garage mechanics are headed by Papaji (Annu Kapoor), and others ... » read more

I enjoyed the movie very much. Kaushik Ganguly did a great job. Though I think the end was quite predictable but as a whole a complete package of entertainment, barring any melodrama. The movie is funny and romantic. The dialogue from a constable when going for a raid 'ei aami kintu janlar dhare' , Or 'Lari da's' comment ' sara bari kha kha korche, thakur ke dakleo aschen na karon ma bolle seta echo hoe mama hoe jache tai unio aschen na' are really funny.

I hope we see more movies like this in future! » read more

There is a plot. There is a subplot. There is a plot amidst the subplot. Then there arrives a subplot within the plot of the subplot… confused? You should be. Kaushik Ganguly has created his own version of a “confusing fairy tale”. With characters popping up here and there, unscrupulous story line, gravity defying incidents and insane characters, “Brake Fail” evolves as one of the most cheap fairy tales ever told on the celluloid of Bangla film history. Ganguly said that his film was a tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s genre of treatment. ... » read more

In a recent interview,I heard that this movie was completed before
Jackpot. So after watching this movie, you are not justified in asking
,how can someone who made an entertaining light-hearted comedy like
Jackpot make a bizarre and mindless comedy like “BrakeFail”.
The name ,though is quite justified in the sense that the plot moves as
haphazardly as a car with failed brakes. What was meant to be a tribute
to Hrishikesh Mukherjee turns out to be almost an insult. The main plot
    revolves round a Hindu car-mechanic(Parambrata)in love with a ... » read more
