Celina Jaitley was born on June 9th, 1981. She comes from mixed parentage, with her father being a Punjabi, a former officer with the Indian Army, and her mother, an Afghani child psychologist, and a former beauty queen. Celina also has a brother who is serving with the Indian army.
Although she has grown up in different cities, Celina has spent the greater part of her growing up years in Kolkata, India. As a child she had wanted to join the armed forces as well, in the capacity of a doctor or a pilot. However, she did not pursue this dream and graduated in commerce from IGNOU.
She participated in, and won the Miss India title in 2001 and then had her eyes set on a Bollywood career. Her debut movie was Janasheen under Feroz Khan's banner. In 2003 she made her debut in the movie industry with Feroz Khan's Janasheen. In 2007 she shot her first international movie Love Has No Language, a romantic comedy.
Jaitley is scheduled to play the character of an Iranian princess in the film Quest of Sheherzade, featuring Sean Connery and Orlando Bloom. The film is based on the Arabian Nights and will be directed by Ken Khan.
