Not a lot of people like this movie, but I totally loved this one. Am not a very big fan of Kareena Kapoor but I think she has acted brilliantly in this movie. It’s by far her best performance till date (…no, sorry, best is JWM for kareena…but this 1 is a close second…)…This one is a truly ‘hatke’ film.
Its one of those movies which are to be watched alone on a DVD probably late at night…Usually the one-night movie stories are thrillers with lots of things happening one after the other, but with this movie, it’s the flow of conversation between Kareena & Rahul Bose which beautifully carries the narrative forward…somewhat like the ‘Before Sunset’ & ‘Before Sunrise’ series.
Its an out & out Kareena kapoor movie, & her portrayal wudnt have been soo successful without Bose. Though Kareena is a lil loud in her acting at places but that gets compensated with the brilliant direction by Sudhir Mishra who has used silence very effectively to convey a lot of unsaid emotions between the two of them. There are scenes when both of them are sitting very quietly and then suddenly one of them starts of with an incident in their lives which goes onto a philosophical note. They are both from very different strata of the society, but the central premise that everyone has their own problems in life and its all about how you cope up with them is depicted well by Mishra.
The movie ends with the line “Kuch bhi karo saab, raat to aapne ek dhandewali ke saath he bitayee hai”…Kareena as a seductress & an innocent girl, all rolled into one. :) :)
Brilliant movie by Sudhir Mishra and the perfect follow-up after ‘Hazaaro Khwahishai Aise’. Do watch it for the acting, great music & awesum background score.
