TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH - INSIPID!
The music is sub standard at first listen and does not show potential to improve on further listens. So many music directors can do little to stop the album from sinking.
The only decent song seems to be 'Tere Naina' by the Shankar Ehsaan Loy camp. The melody is very Rahmanish and the voices of Shankar and Shreya are a treat.
About the others the less said the better:
Chak Lein De is insipid. Both the original and remix versions.
Chandni Chowk To China, the title track is unappealing. Has neither melody, nor 'tashan', , nor peppiness, nor the fun that the lyrics seem to imply it would want to convey.
The Bohemia version of the same song sounds like any of the run of the mill, dime a dozen remix hip - hop songs, floating around these days. Akshay lending his voice does nothing to add value to the song.
However, the Shankar Ehsaan Loy version of the song is definitely better than the Bohemia version. It reminds one a little of the Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom title track.
India Se Aaya Tera Dost, is a re hash of the old 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost' from the Bappi Lahiri camp.
S.I.D.H.U. is one of those Billo Raani kind of qawaalis, which again fails to break clutter.
All in all an album one can readily do with a miss. Sad, when it is the next big movie so to speak, which many are looking forward to.
Well the film will definitely have to make a mark, without having the advantage of having a successful or good musical score to ride on.
