What do I say about this movie, to sum up I can say that when you reach the interval, you feel really sorry that there is still one more half to go.
The plot tries to recreate the prototype (what is thought to be I'm sure, the masala key to success) bollywood potbolier with a revenge theme, twin sisters separated at babydom, a male protagonist who goes from zero to hero (rather late in the movie), a Chinese father-in-law who spouts Hindi at the drop of a hat. A villain who is committed to villainy in completely black shades (none of those modern grey shades here, if you please!)
What is absolutely unbearable is an Akshay who plays this 'rotlu' weak sort of guy for the major part of the movie, one keeps waiting for him to start hitting back and becoming the hunk Akki we are used to seeing. I think this is precisely the undoing of the movie. We can't see him like this!
Deepika Padukone exhibits precisely two expressions (when she isn't shedding copious tears, that is):
1. Of 'wonder' (think Sushmita Sen's expression when she won Miss Universe!!!)
2. Of 'trying to look mean and determined' as she performs her stunts, with elan (think wannabe Uma Thurman)
Mithun is good in the role he plays, and Ranvir is also ok. The villain Hojo and Chiang are in fact quite interesting.
The music is hardly worth a listen.
Well this is one movie which can very well be given the miss, unless you are in the mood to take a 'dekko' at the great wall of China which is shown in all its splendour throughout the film, which earns the film half a point more than what it deserves.
