Charmee or Charmy Kaur was born on 17 May 1983. She is also known as Charmee or Charmi. She has predominantly worked in Telugu films. Charmee was born in Mumbai to a Punjabi family. She studied in Carmelite Convent English High School in Vasai.

She made her acting debut at the age of 15, in the Telugu film 'Nee Thodu Kaavali' (2002), in which she was a housewife. This film didn't work, but Charmee got noticed by the South Indian film industry. Her next film was Kadhal Azhavatillai with Silambarasan, which was also a flop. During this time she acted in a Malayalam film, Kattuchembakam, directed by Vinayan. This film was also a disaster at the box office. After that she acted in a few more Tamil films but none of them worked.

She made a re-entry to Telugu movies with a film with Sreekanth which was a failure; then she appeared in director Krishna Vamsi's 'Sri Anjaneyam'. It was followed by Chanti, paired against Ravi Teja. She finally got a big break in Telugu industry with Gowri (2004) in which she was paired with Sumanth. After that, there was no looking back for her. The stupendous success of Mass with Nagarjuna strengthened her position in Tollywood. Charmee’s got critical acclaim for her role in Anukokunda Oka Roju (2005). It was a heroine-oriented thriller.

In 2006 she acted in Pournami which was a flop, but her performance was appreciated. Though she did not learn Indian classical dance, her Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dances in the film were appreciated by audiences. Later that year she was paired for the second time with Sumanth in Chinnodu but it was not a successful venture. Her next film, Rakhi (with NTR), was a hit. In Mantra (2007), a thriller with Charmee in the lead role, was declared as a surprise hit. This performance fetched her the Nandi Award for the best herione of 2007.

Charmee has starred in several women oriented roles, a rare thing in Tollywood. The list includes Anukokunda Oka Roju (2007), Mantra (2007), Manorama (2009), Kavya’s Diary (2009) in Telugu and Laadam in Tamil, out of which Anukokunda Oka Roju and Mantra were hits. She made her Bollywood debut with Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (2011). Currently, she is acting in Zilla Ghaziabad opposite Vivek Oberoi.
