Chhoan rating: 0 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 12 Jul 2012)

Sometimes films come along which feature known actors and actresses but are so bad and atrocious that you lose words to describe it. Chhoan, a new release starring Rudranil, Tanusree and Riju Biswas is precisely such a film from the word go. It is so bad, confusing, atrocious and deadly that you might get infected by the ‘virus’ of the film and not recover for the next couple of hours.

The film is all about Chhoan ,a girl whose behaviour is dysfunctional and she is a sort of a loner who becomes very depressed after her father’s death early in her life. Her mother’s death later on makes on even more depressed and eccentric. Her only soulmate is her childhood friend Suranjan . Later on she comes in contact with Riju who comes into her life and also dissapears without much time! She is very possesive about Suranjan and can’t stand his girlfriend so he takes a job in Hyderabad and goes away. She becomes a wreck. She appoints a contract killer who spends his days like a house guest doing nothing. So far as good. Okay, so you thought it was to bump off Riju? No, unknown to him, she has appointed him to bump her off! Wait ! The worst part hasn’t come yet!

Till now the film had no pace, no meaning, everything was unexplained including Riju’s sudden break off with her , still it was bearable. Now comes the grand moment. Tilak, the contract killer suddenly breaks into a song along with several auto wallahs who do the jig sitting in their auto rickshaws! The torture becomes unbearable! There was even a scene where the producer advertised his own brand which went something like ‘ROYCO AND CO, MAKERS OF SWIMMING DRESSES’ or something like that which even had illustrations to showcase the brand. Need we say anything more about this ‘OSCAR’ worthy film where everyone competes with each other to see who is more pathetic?
