    “MY heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains
    My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk,
    Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains”

    Do you feel the same, my friend? Haven’t you ever known

    “The weariness, the fever, and the fret
    Here, where men sit and hear each other groan;
    Where palsy shakes a few, sad, last grey hairs,
    Where youth grows pale, and spectre-thin, and dies;
    Where but to think is to be full of sorrow
    And leaden-eyed despairs;
    Where beauty cannot keep her lustrous eyes,
    Or new Love pine at them beyond ... » read more

    Jimmy (Victor Banerjee) the tea planter from Assam delivers a gem in the last scene of the movie. He quotes Ernest Hemingway in saying, that "The world is a beautiful place, worth fighting for" and he adds, that "The world is a good place, worth writing for" and he has already this book in mind titled Chowrasta - Crossroads of love. Can't say, whether people will queue up to buy the book, if it would have happened in reality. Because, I never really managed to get a good story out of him during the movie, except for some incomplete letters written to his deceased wife ... » read more

    Chowrasta – means four roads crossing.

    In Anjan Dutt’s film it means Darjeeling Mall, where 4 set of characters come and go, and of course there happens change of hearts of those characters.

    What are those 4 set of characters?

    1. An old tea planter (Victor Banerjee) who smokes pipe, drinks and writes poems for his dead wife and behaves like a Buddhist monk. Even one of the character asks him, “…are you a monk?”

    2. Deepak (Saswata Chatterjee) a Bengali teacher of Darjeeling St. Paul’s School. His divorced wife Nandana Sen (Roopa Ganguly), ... » read more

    Chowrasta is a movie made by Anjan Dutta to narrate a tale of a few different charecters who went to Darjeeling for different reasons. The Darjeeling shown in the movie is not very preity.
    But it is not a spoilar. The sub stories around the main theme of getting the solutions to every problem has been delivered nicely. The film is not liked by all for its vulgarity in showing some intemate scenes and some narrations of making love at many places.But the fact is life of these days are like that for some people. the youngstars dont wait to find many answers befor eloping ... » read more

    Dear Anirban,
    You should have no sound ground to echo Keats who gets rid of the inertia of bewitchment and bids adieu to the majic bird for he realises, of course, when the effect of narcotics coursing through his veins subsids that the "deceiving elf" is just a "maya" and not the world of truth. Mr. "Bong" Dutt has neither set the Thames on fire, nor broken any ground, but taken after the beaten track to invite or arrest the fops and "Belindas" who muster strong the multiplexes as their happy haunting place.
