In India the Horror genre was started by The Ramsay Brothers, who use to have decent music and good star cast in their films. This was followed by Mohan Bhakari who introduced more of Sex in Horror films and majorly took B-Grade actors in his films. This reduced the level of Horror films and succumbing to it the Ramsay to fell in the trap. Years later the Horror Genre was Re Discovered in our Hindi films and had A-Grade banners and actors to bank upon. Though majorly were inspired or directly lifted by Hollywood flicks, but there were few who had its own originality. Last year we had a small budget film 13-B which had decent actors and good subject to bank on. This year we find another small budget film “Click” with just one known actor in it, will it make a mark or be a wash out? Let’s find it.

“Click” is story of Avi {Shreyas Talpade} a fashion photographer and his Model girlfriend Sonia {Ada}. One day after the reunion party of Avi with his old friends, while driving Sonia rams into a girl on a street. Being drunk Avi decides to elope from there leaving the girl behind. Next day Avi visits his college for an Ex-Students function and covers up the event. When he develops the photographs he finds something funny in the photos and thinks it might be Camera problem. But this was just a start to Avi and Sonia’s strange events followed after the accident. Both try their level best to find out what is the root cause which leads them to a dark secret.

Story is highly inspired by couple of Hollywood flicks out which major parts have been even used in our Hindi rips. On the screenplay side the movie is quite weak in the first half and moves with a snail pace, though it gains the momentum in the second half and has a decent climax which has some good twist and turns. Editing was weak as the movie seems to drag a lot in the second half despite of being a small film. Special effects were majorly funny and seemed glorified version of Horror tele shows.

Music by Shamir Tandon is good but does not go with the feel of the film. Still Aamin and one more song manages to impress you. Background music was just ok.

Sangeeth Sivan had started his career with a Horror films which never saw the daylight and thus he moved to comedy and action films. Despite of being an experienced director he fails to get performances from the supporting cast of the film. Majority of the performances looked amateurish, forced and trashy. His way of storytelling in major scenes was totally like Mohan Bhakari, it was just the Sex part was missing. Still the movie had some decent thrills and thanks to the lead pair you can watch the film.

Shreyas Talpade looked like lost in this film, I wonder was it the influences of Non Actors that this decent actor too performed his performances without giving his 100%. Sada was good and managed to show her performances, out bearing all others. The bunch of friends were all hamming and amateurish. Sneha Ullal again managed to unimpress after her major efforts with Khans. Chunky Pandey and Avtar Gill were irritating.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?

Dum to kutch khaas nahin, haan ek do ache thrills hain, Heroine ki achi performance hain aur uske alawa kutch khaas nahin. The movie looked quite forced, made with low budget and the bad performances with bad special effects makes it worse for a one time watch. When we take photos in our digital camera’s we keep the good ones and rest all are filtered. The same way filter this one.
