The music, its characters and the spunk are the elements that really drives 'cocktail'.The mix of humour, emotions, friendship, feelings and love is what describes cocktail in brief. The story, written by imtiaz ali and sajid ali is not sumthing that has not been captured in bollywood.Love triangle,friendship-turning-love is a formula or a genre that has generated interest among the film goers from times immemorial. But since it has been captured from the times of amitabh-rekha-jaya to new age saif-deepika-diana, it would be interesting to see how the new generation accepts this age old masala.
Set in the backdrop of pictureseque London, the movie tells the lives of three friends gautam(saif ali khan), veronica (deepika padukone), and meera(diana penty).
The movie starts off with gautam being pictured as a casanova,a lucky-go-nature guy who tries to get the attention of meera through his flirtatious ways at the airport of London.Meera, who has come to London to be with her husband played by randeep hooda, but was dumped by him after they met.Soon after meera met with a party goer, chirpy girl veronica, who gives her shelter in her house.Incidents takes place one after another and soon gautam was sleeping with veronica. In the meanwhile, gautam's mother played by dimple kapadia,is worried about getting his son married and asks his brother played superbly by Boman Irani,to get him married.in the meanwhile, his mother suddenly arrives in London and she was shown meera, the simple would be wife rather than veronica.
Now what follows is how these three friends cope up with these and how love and friendship are the two sides of the same coin is sincerly showed.
the movie has some very nice tracks given by Pritam.songs like 'TUMHI HO BANDHU' and 'DARU DESI' is already a chartbuster and adds nicely to the spunkiness of the film.
All in all 'cocktail' is a nice blend of sweetness, spiceness and cool ambience that works for a masala film that it is.
