Dabangg means fearless… this has been aptly captured in the movie and this is what makes the movie what it is. The movie revolves around the streets of Laalganj in UP and it has been caught on the camera like never before.
What works for the movie is the star power of Salman Khan. Be it his action scenes, his interaction with various characters or his dialogues – all bring a smile to your faces. No other actor can be imagined in this other than Salman. The action scenes in the movie are innovative and are bound to bring roars from the audience. Each song of the movie brings out whistles from the crowd and this makes each song enjoyable.
What doesn’t work for the movie is the inadequate development of characters. Sonakshi Sinha doesn’t get ample screen space in the second half of the movie though she sparkles for a while in the first half. Similarly the characters of Arbaaz Khan as Salman’s half-brother and Vinod Khanna as Salman’s step father don’t get justice to their roles. And the villain, Sonu Sood, disappears suddenly in the first half only to reappear in the second half of the movie. The other thing is that there are too many songs in the movie which slow down the movie.
Having said all this it has to be noted that the star power of Salman overcomes all the shortcomings of the movie and makes it a watchable one.
Go watch this one for Salman Khan.
