A Movie to cherish….
This year two films based on Simple subjects were released and got good support from the audience, Welcome to Sajaanpur and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi. This week we have another Simple film with blend of good emotions and performance, “Dasvidaniya”. Also 2008 has witnessed different genre of films released and have been noticed, films like Aamir, Welcome to…, Wednesday, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Tahaan and now Dasvidaniya joins the list of good films.
Amar [Vinay Pathak], a looser in his routine life who works as accounts manager is harassed by his boss [Saurabh Shukla]. He stays with his Partial Deaf Mother [Sarita Joshi] and takes care of her. One day he comes to know that he has Stomach Cancer and this changes everything in his life. He decides to make a list of things to do before he dies. This list consist of various things like expressing his love to his childhood sweetheart [Neha Dhupia], Meet his childhood buddy [Rajat kapoor], Get his younger brother [Gaurav Gela] home, and many more. Thus starts the journey of his wish list.
Story is simple and might have references of Anand, Munnabhai and few more films at places, but that’s it as rest all is different. Dialogs are quite good and emotional. Screenplay is powerful. The film is said with its particular pace which some might find too slow, but as per the demand of the film it goes well. Still minor editing would have helped make the film more beautiful. Camera work is good and handles the film with due required. Music is pretty average and could had been better.
Director Shashant has done a good job. It’s the way of his story telling which makes the movie special. His blend of emotion and simplicity pays off. Many scenes are handled with top notch sensibility, like Vinay’s tiff with his boss, Neha Chapter, Rajit Chapter, Guitar Chapter, Gaurav Chapter and mother chapter plus many more. But despite all this at some point you still miss something, maybe a better pace and bit more strong script.
Vinay Pathak has essayed the role with total conviction and one can relate and feel the emotions he is going through. He is a total versatile actor who can carry off with any sort of role and connect with his audience. Gaurav Gela has done a good job. Sarita Joshi has shown that she still has loads to deliver. Watch her in the scene where Vinay buys new car and takes her for drive. Neha Dhupia, Rajat Kapoor, Joy, Saurabh and others are good and have done their part with ease.
So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai Dum ?
Dum hai kaafi dum hain. People excepting another Bheja Fry or some sort of masala please stay away as this is not your cup of tea. People who love good and simple cinema will love this film and will cherish many moments from the film.
