    Two's company, three's a crowd.

In 2004 Mani Ratnam experimented with ‘Yuva’ which was an unusual tale of three different people and how their stories get entangled with each others. Later we saw many such types of films being made in our Hindi film industry. Most of them followed the similar path what Mani Ratnam has set apart, but then there were few who dared to attempt something different. After receiving fantastic reviews for his debut film ‘Shaitan’, Director Bejoy Nambiar comes up with his latest film ‘David’ which narrates the story of three different people sharing the same name but set in different ... » read more

David: A mish mash of 3 uninspiring stories

I had expected a lot from Bejoy Nambiar’s second offering after ‘Shaitaan’, but was gravely disappointed.

‘David’ comprises of three stories based on three principal characters by the same name DAVID. One story is set in 1975 London, second story in 1999 Mumbai and third story 2010 Goa.

The first story has Neil Nitin Mukesh playing a side kick DAVID of gangster Iqbal Ghani (Akarsh Khurana) in London, 1975. Second story has Vinay Virmani playing DAVID an aspiring Rock singer and a son of a Christian priest Father Noel (Nasser) in Mumbai, 1999. ... » read more

Episodic film "David" or heart-wrenching mother-daughter drama "Mai" or rare medical thriller "Ankur Arora Murder Case" are some of the cinematically superlative films, but they failed to click at the box office.

Here is a list of 10 such films that deserved better viewership and appreciation than what they got:

1. "David": Bejoy Nambiar's second feature film after the warmly received "Shaitaan", was eagerly awaited. Tragically David about three protagonists with the same name, just didn't gel with audiences in spite of a brilliant cast and deft direction. Episodic films just don't work. Each of the protagonists - Vikram from the South, Neil Nitin Mukesh and newcomer Vinay Virmani were excellent. This is one film that has a long shelf life.
