CRAP DANA DAN!!
OK..so in all probability you do expect a great entertainer when you see the team of Akshay-Suniel-Paresh-Priyadarshan coming back on the screen..right? Ofcourse yes. But what would you say if you find out that the 3 hrs (2 hours 45 mins exactly) are nothing but the 3 most horrible hours in the name of entertainment?? CRAP aint it?? Yes, De Dana Dan is nothing but a crap dana dan. From the first frame to the last, all you are served with is non-humourous, non-giggling, forced, loud comedy! Priyadarshan's key to successful comedy is lots n lots of confusion and this is no exception. But, the confusion neither helps you laugh, neither helps you giggle. Barely some sequences which could bring some smile on your face, most of this movie is otherwise watched with a straight pale face. The movie is too loud and full of forced comedy sequences, that you might just start tearing off your hair! You have scenes like the famous one This is a movie which even 20+ characters couldnt save!
There are absolutely no performances to talk about.
Akshay Kumar repeats many of his previous acts, thus this act though good, doesnt turn out to be an impactful one. Sunil Shetty is good too but he seems to be forced into the cast just to complete the HERA Pheri trio.
Paresh Rawal is loud and gets irritating at times. His punjabi accent didnt click too. Paresh Rawal could have been a lot lot better and in fact we have seen him doing a lot better than an average performance he delivers here.
Katrina Kaif is for eye candy. Period. Same for Sameera Reddy.
Archana Puran Singh is too loud and irritating. She shouts more and hardly acts in the movie.
Tinu Anand, Vikram Gokhale seemed somewhat misfit.
Asrani was at his usual self. Nothing different thus nothing good.
Rajpal Yadav was seen repeating his Do Knot Disturb act.
Sharad Saxena was kinda misfit and was wasted.
Neha Dhupia has a song and very few scenes...she manages to do quite fine in them.
Aditi Gowatriker just cant act!! Better as a model.
But the best of the performances came from Manoj Joshi and Johnny Lever. They were simply too good.
Direction by Priyadarshan is somewhat just above average. The way he has created the plot, and the way he creates all confusion does need a very sharp brain, so hats off to him for that. But there are certain scenes which were just not required and some were made to be too long.
Screenplay was badly handled and so was editing. There seemed to be quite a few continuity lapses in the movie. The climax was too long, it could have been made short and humorous. It started off well, but eventually lost grip.
Background score was plain average. Nothing to even mention about.
Music by Pritam is somewhat below average to Average. Rishte Naate stands out and is also the only properly picturised and placed song in the whole movie.
On the whole, De Dana Dan is a lackluster dish served by the "GREAT ENTERTAINERS". Its 3 long hours of nothing but boredome, frustration and irritation.
