“Ek Haath Se Taali Nahin Bajti”
Another week and another so called comedy film [as the promo says]. We have been witnessing last few so called comedy films were not at all comedy, neither had a good script also. “De Taali” was also promoted as a comedy [with loads of non veg jokes, etc], but sorry to disappoint, the promos are totally misleading.
Abhishek (Aftab Shivdasani), Amrita (Ayesha Takia) & Paglu (Ritesh Deshmukh] are best of buddies. They enjoy their carefree live with bonding of each other. Abhishek is a rich kid who lives with his loving father (Anupam Kher) and has a habit of falling in love with the next girl he sees. Amrita & Paglu keeps saving him from ending in wrong love. Paglu feels Amrita is the perfect partner for Abhishek, and he convinces Amrita also for it. Amrita slowly starts liking Abhishek and starts building her dream world. But the world is shattered as Abhishek introduces her to his soul mate and girl of his dreams Kartika [Rimi Sen]. Paglu does not like the approach of Kartika and sense a negative feeling for her. He tried his level best to get Abhishek and Amrita together but fails due to Kartika. All this leads to conflict between friends and later finding who loves Abhishek the most, Kartika or Amrita?
Vishal Shekhars music is peppy and matches with the need of the movie. But there are too many songs which spoils the flow of the movie. This movie travels on a thin story base. The screenplay is full of bumper ride. In few scenes its good and few it’s bad. The climax of the film dragged and was the worst part of the entire movie. The humour in climax looked forced.
Director E.Nivas has given us a semi comedy film in past and with this star cast he could had delivered a better film. But looks like the director was confused what to make? A romantic film, A Comedy or A Drama. Due to all these the movie ends up as combination of all and turns to be a hooch pooch.
Aftab in the role of a lover boy looked bit old but still manage to do a decent work.
Ayesha Takia was the same as in her last few films. Her looks, style, acting etc all were repetitive along with plump effect. Rimi sen also looked but old to match the role but gave a good performance. she played her grey character with an ease. Anupam kher, Mukul Dev and Pawan Malhotra are reduced to a support and are total wasted.
The movie belongs to one person who tried carrying this so called comedy film with his one liner. But poor guy does not get the space to show his real potential. Still whenever he came the movie came alive.
So….”bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hain dum???”
Kuch khaas dum nahi, par kutch baat hain. This so called comedy film which turns to be a Romantic Drama is worth a watch for one person, “Ritesh Deshmukh”. But as they say “Ek haath se taali nahin bajti”, same applies for this below average flick.
Rating - **1/2 (1/2 star extra for Ritesh Deshmukh)
