After four years when Debdas returns a changed person, Parbati is very unhappy. She remembers their childhood days. When Parbati comes of age, her mother proposes the marriage of her daughter with Debdas to Narayan Mukherjee's wife. But Narayan Mukherjee does not agree. So Parbati has to marry Bhuban Chowdhury, an aged zamindar of Burdwan with an adult son and daughter. Debdas gets addicted to alcohol. During these days Chunilal is his companion. Chunilal introduces Debdas to Chandramukhi, a postitute. Debdas' father passes away. One day Debdas promises himself that before his death he will visit Parbati. One day Chandramukhi finds a drunk Debdas in a brothel. He is suffering from liver pain and fever. Chandramukhi loves Debdas but Debdas has no feelings for her. So Debdas leaves the house of Chandramukhi. One day Debdas realises that death is near. He remembers his promise. So he has to return to Parbati at any cost. When Debdas reaches Parbati's place he is dead. Parbati comes to know that the dead person outside the palace is Debdas. Parbati wants to see him but her husband closes the doors of the palace.
