    “Debi” was released on 19th February, 1960. The fastidious Satyajit Ray created this film by adapting a novella of Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay. “Debi” is all about the feudal, patriarchal, superstitious society which existed in rural Bengal in the past century, & how it predated upon simple human beings.
