Deewana rating: 0 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 22 Jan 2013)

Reliance Entertainment has entered the world of Bengali commercial films like the films produced by SVF and Eskay Movies with Deewana starring Jeet and Srabanti which are on those lines. The film, a remake of a Tamil film ‘Deepavali’ is about Shruti who arrives in New Jalpaiguri and Abhi immediately falls in love with her. Even she falls in love with her over a period of time. Her father is a much dreaded man as he bumps off anyone he wants to at will. She also suffers from a memory loss over a period of time which had occurred due to an accident and certain parts of her memory is erased from time to time.

When she goes back to Kolkata. Abhi goes to fetch her back , but she can’t recall who he is as that part of her memory is erased. Abhi is simply determined to bring her back and make her his wife. He does manage to bring her back after beating up the goons employed by Shruti’s father, but still she can’t recognize him. However at the end when her father appears in New Jalpaiguri with the cops accusing Abhi of kidnapping Shruti, shruti is convinced that a person who has done so much for her must really love her and she confesses her love for Abhi.

The film is decent in the beginning, but then things get stretched. The climax is nagging and few scenes before that are just not acceptable. For example, after Abhi is stabbed, he lies in the hospital with hardly much having happened to him and then he yanks off his oxygen mask and medical tapes off his body as if he was lying there just by mistake and goes away!
