Delhi Belly rating: 8 out of 10(Akhtar Ali Sayyed wrote on 02 Jul 2011)

    DELHI BELLY….
One of the most awaited movie in the youth….
Is it a youthful romantic flick??? Or does it have some great saga and star cast???
Well,,, we all know it doesn’t have anything like that….
It is famous in the youth because of the non-veg and vulgar dialogues…
It was all started with the chart buster and a most controversial song of the year “D.K. Bose”…
Aamir khan, the producer of the movie has a great sense of understanding the youth and one of the most creative and best marketing in the country…

But is that all we need to make a movie a hit… no…

So let us see… what Delhi Belly offers us….

To start up lets have a small view of the movie’s plot…

Delhi Belly is a story of 3 slapdash friends Tashi, Arup and Nitin, who stay as tenants together… played by Imraan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy respectively… Tashi is a press reporter along with Nitin as a press photographer who works with him… Arup is a cartoonist who is fed up of his boss….
The real problem starts when Tashi’s fiancée Sonia (Shehnaaz Treasurywala) gives a parcel to Tashi for a delivery and it got misplaced by our 3 great idiots… which actually belongs to a Mafia Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz)… and rest is all fun for the audience.. well I do not want to discuss more about the story as it may make you to loose you interest in the movie… the concept is good and really makes the audience to hold their sits…

Lets talk something about the performances….

IMRAN KHAN played a fabulous role… his make up, clothes and above all his acting will make you feel that he was the best option for this role….

VIR DAS… well I like this guy since NAMASTE LONDON, a small role he played with the best performance you can expect by someone… then F.A.L.T.U…. and now the brightest feather in his cap… brilliant with his role… you will really make out how much he was frustrated by his boss…

KUNAL ROY KAPOOR… the show stealer… after looking to his performance you will really stop purchasing chicken from thela walas and you will really start hating the orange juice… but was it all in his performance…well, no…. he just gave the finest performance in the movie… his weird situations will make you die laughing…

SHEHNAAZ TREASURYWALA… I don’t understand how this lady managed and maintained her looks and physic… she is not growing older since ISHQ VISHQ… well about her performance… she did a fair job…

POORNA JAGANNATHAN… well,,, what to say… as menka, she did a fabulous work …. Her performance in the scenes where you will find Imraan & Rahul singh together was just enjoyable…

PARESH GANATRA… the most bechara person, I mean the real poor chap of the bollywood, NO ENTRY, AANKHEN, KHICHDI, and now this one… you will really feel bad for him, but you will not stop laughing on his situation…

RAHUL SINGH has a small role but enjoyable…
And above all… VIJAY RAAZ…. As a mafia he did a great job…. The sincerity he has towards his performance is just commendable…

Lets talk about the Story, Screenplay, Dialogues & Scenes…

Delhi Belly is a hollywood styled movies… 90 minutes’ movie; directly comes to the main point and no songs and no time pass here and there…
Screenplay was too smooth… AKSHAT VERMA did a fair job with the pen…
He wrote the fast moving script with some really hilarious scenes and funny moments…
The bad thing is that movie has lot of vulgar and cheap dialogues, full Ma@-B3h3n and Gaali-Galoch…. But the good thing is that it doesn't affect the script and screenplay at all…

You are definitely going to enjoy many scenes like….

    - The first scene of the 3 flatmates…. Where they were discussing who opened the door last time and turn was there to fill the bucket…

    - Kunal roy’s photo shoots… whether it is with ANUSHA, or a dead body or Paresh Ganatra’s scene at brutal….

    - The Kathak Dancers…

    - When Vijay Raaz got the tatty (or Potty) in the bottle…

    - When Vijay Raaz’s man was fitting silencer to the gun

    - The ceiling’s breaking, Vijay Raaz’s interrogation at Imran’s flat

    - The Black-mailing to Paresh through a post...

    - The hotel room number 509

    - The jewellery shop scenes… the diamond selling, the loot

    - Vir Das hiding the CCTV…

    - The scene where Vir Das drinks the water through the veil

    - Scene exactly after Jaa chudail…

    - Vir Das and his boss on a Banana Cartoon

    - Vir Das’s resignation

    - Kunal Roy and Orange juice.

    - Kunal Roy’s Potty scene everytime…

    - And many more…

One thing I observed that Indian Censor Board is becoming bolder and bolder day by day… the Imran-Shehnaz bedroom scene and the scene where Kunal roy offers money to the lady after a photo-shoot were far-far bolder step taken by the director…

The music was also good, though only Jaa chudail and I hate you were the two songs in the movie… rest were just used as background scores… RAM SAMPAT did a great job…. And songs are fabulous enough to entertain you in the movie as well as an individual album

It was great to see that the Director of the movie ABHINAY DEO tried to make a realistic youth cinema, but the greater thing was that he didn’t over boil it… as a director he had a great control and shown what he wanted to show….

SO WILL PEOPLE MISS THE MOVIE AND SAY “JAA CHUDAIL” TO IT???

Well, a big NO to the question… because… people are going to say “I HATE YOU (LIKE A LOVE YOU)”, and everyone is going to shake the biscuits…

In Simple words, we can say…

DELHI BELLY is a courageous step towards a realistic cinema with many hilarious and funny situations with great music and fabulous performances, which you will regret to miss…

P.S.: IT'S NOT A FAMILY ENTERTAINER… AVOID WATCHING IT WTH FAMILY… BUT YUP… WATCH IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS; YOU WILL DEFINITELY LOVE IT…
