Yeh Naani sab ko naani yaad dila degi…

Children Films in India have been generally copy of some or other Hollywood films or are made with loads of forced humor except few films like Makdee, Boothnath, Chota Chetan, etc. Also all these films had good subject and catered Adult audience also. “Detective Naani” also joins the gang of good Children cum Adult entertainer films.

“Detective Naani” is story of Naani [Ava Mukherjee] who lives with her Dog Bruno and her grand children’s Nakul [Zain Khan] & Anjali [Simran Singh]keeps visiting her in their holidays. One day Naani sees a girl in a flat above hers, the girl was scared and tensed. Naani in her curiosity tries to know more about the gir, but finds out that in that flat there is no small girl. This starts the series of doubts in Naani’s head and later one after one incident starts occurring. Naani along with her grand children’s, colony friends and C.I.D tries to reach the bottom of the case which turns out to be a joyful ride.

Story is different and quite interesting, the best part is it’s not inspired or copied from any Hollywood films like Home Alone, Harry Potter etc. Screenplay is bit amateurish in the first half but improves drastically in the second half. Pace is slow in the first half, but again second half turns out to be totaled pacy with lots of interesting scenes. A strict editing is required especially in the first half which turns to be bit lengthy and in romantic scenes bit boring too. Camera work is strictly average.

Music by Jolly Mukherjee is fun in the title track, rest all especially the romantic songs could had been strictly avoided.

Direction by Romilla Mukherjee is good and could have been better in first half of the film. but kudos to her effort of creating interesting second half with good entertainment.

Ava mukherjee is prefect Naani, also she reminds you of the Grandma from Tweety and Sylvester cartoons. It’s great to see at this age one performing with such grace and style. Zain Khan,Simran Singh, Amrita, Ankur, Amit and Shweta are good and have essayed their part with total conviction.

So bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hain dum ?

Dum hain kaafi dum hain for children’s and adults. Don’t expect any harry potter or Home alone type of drama, but a simple tale told in different and interesting manner. It’s fun to enjoy such movies and let the child in you come alive at times. Also one thing is for sure that yeh Naani ache acho ko Naani yaad dila degi….
