Movie Viewing Attyachar -
Yeah, now lets discuss this one which i sat to see last night with a lot of enthu. What a piece of job done- really !! It did take me through a period of mental, physical and EMOS_NAL attyachar true to the genuine lyrics of the popular song. Sarat Babu (Chandra Chattopadhyay) would almost arise from his grave to lament over the adaptation from his noble work called DEVDAS.
This modern Devdas is gen X and all colorful and is far from our very known regretting, crying Hero who puts himself to utter suffering on losing Paro. Paro too.. here is not all divine and serene. She has a mind of her known with a filthy mouth and does not shy away from talks of virginity and Sex. I somehow never discovered the element of love or a platonic connection between the two of them - their relationship doesnt ripen with given time and is majorly reduced to an unadulterated episode which you merely find boring after a certain point of time. SEX is predominant through the movie over LOVE. Kalki as the modern day Chanda does a good job of what is offered to her and this Chunni is far far away from Sarat Babu's ideologies and looks more of a road side druggie !!! What i can really conclude here that however or to whatever degree of a 'rondu' helpless character Sarat Babu's Devdas might be- you still emphathise with his situation bcz he doesnt break norms and rise above sensibilities.. but this Devinder Dhillon is all ruthless, unforgiving , too sharp and at times a little too "attyachaari" on poor emotional souls like us .. ;-)
Oh well, the only redeeming factor - Those songs really are a class apart and does somehow belong to the "never before" genre.. Kudos to Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya. As for the acting spree goes.. all Abhay Deol, Mahi Gill and Kalki do a commendable job. Watch out for the bright climax part- i bet you would be delighted and happy- at last ! :D
