    After Dharmendra's marriage with Hema, on the sets of Sholay, Dharmendra paid Rs. 20 each times to the light boys who were asked to disturb the scene while Dharmendra teaching Hema Malini how to try a revolver. So more than Rs. 2000 were given to the light boys for hugging Hema at his will.

    In his youth, actor Dharmendra was such a big fan of actress Suraiya that he walked miles to watch her film Dillagi, over 40 times.

    Bollywood movies and its stars are very popular in Nigeria. The favorite stars are often given nicknames by the local people in their language (Hausa). Dharmendra is called Sarkin Karfi, which means King of Strength in Hausa.

    Childlike impishness of Dharmendra could well be undersood by our film-makers and they used him in humours roles in "Pratigya", "Cupke Cupke" "Mera Gaon Mera Desh"and even the first phase of "Sholey"."Professor Pyarelal" and others. Had he been a commedian througout, his name would have come close to Mehmood or Johny Walker.

    Besides, his appearence like a Roman Knight, the Greek-masculine beauty Dharmendra was gifted with childlike innocence and divine simplicity (kamdev jaisi...song in Dream Gir) It was because.of this, Hrisikesh Mukherjee put him in "Anupama","Satyakam" "Majli Didi". "Chaitali" in which the "Dharamveer" Dharam came out of his usual closter of "He-man'and appeared so soft, sensitive and amicable. "Neel Aakash","Bandini", "Anpad" "Sarafat"are also of this category where he was no "Krodhi"for Bagawat

    After doing his first few films, Dharmendra was casted as the main villain in Rajendra Kumar starrer super-hit film Aayi Milan Ki Bela (1964). The villain overshadowed the hero in this film and it gave a major boost to Dharmendra's career.

    Dilip Kumar gave Dharmendra the best compliment ever... that he is the most handsome man on this earth....BHAGWAN NE BADI FURSAT SE IS KO BANAYA HAI.
    Dharmendra became so emotional on getting this compliment from a veteran actor like Dilip Kumar.
    This was on the day he recieved his Lifetime Achievement Award.

    Before Dharmendra was noticed in a talent contest and came to Bombay to become an actor he was married at the age of 19 and took up a job with an American Drilling Company boring tubewells.
