A rollicking ride .....
When Industry's leading two heroes(Jeet,Dev) and a heroine(Koel)come together, you expect the sparks to fly,and Raj Chakravathy's "Dui Prithibi" won't disappoint you there.Though an unabashed copy of "Gamayam", it is surely Raj Chakravarthy's best effort as a director
after "Chirodini tumi je amar".
The story is about the journey of a rich boy Rahul Roy(Jeet) in search of his lost love,Nandini(Koel).Rahul and Nandini had met and fallen in love but Rahul was very much insensitive towards poor and uncaring of the world that lies beyond his grandeur. But,on contrary,Nandini was very caring to all, specially the underprivileged ones. This difference led to their split. As Rahul embarked on this journey with a companion,a bike thief by profession,Shibu(Dev),he rediscovered himself through various situations.
Jeet and Koel always make a great pair, and this movie is no different. After Wanted and Josh,Jeet is now on a high with Dui Prithibi. But,in an author-backed role,Dev packs a punch. The character of Shibu is the one that stays with you and it is evident Dev has worked really hard for this role.In fact,Jeet and Dev have maximum scenes together, and each complement the other.
In smaller roles,Kharaj Mukherjee,Manoj Mitra and Supriyo Dutta perform well.Barkha Bisht though hardly has any role to play.
Raj has treated this movie differently from his previous films. This is primarily a road movie and unlike Raj's earlier projects centring on urban areas, this one takes you to rural and sub-urban regions. The camerawork is quite excellent.
The music though is a letdown. The songs don't stick with you and Jeet Gannguly is in off-form in this movie.Only the "Pyarelal" song stands out largely due to picturization. The editing is sharp.
However, too much dialogues at some crucial points often makes you a little bored. Also, the movie seems to lose its pace
towards the end and also, the end like most Raj Chakravarty films is quite cliche'.
Still,I suggest ,you go and watch Dui Prithibi because this is a ride which will thoroughly entertain you despite being a little flawed, and plus, you get to watch Jeet,Dev and Koel, all three in glorious form.
