E Sudhu Aamar Gaan stars singer actress Janiva Roy and Raj in the lead roles. The role is tailor made for her because it is about a singer, Rani who mesmerized Bishal with her voice and beauty. Bishal is an alcoholic, a secret admirer. Rani meets with with a fatal accident one day and even loses her voice. A few other developments take place in the meantime all of which are sub plots of the film. Bishal wants Rani to get back her voice at any cost and he is even taken to her by Dr.Susobhon , his friend and the doctor who is treating Rani in the guise of a young doctor ‘Arnab’. He is the also the person who brings them together over a period of time. One day however when Akash threatens Arnab, Rani screams out in order to save him. Everyone is shocked at Rani getting back her voice, but pleased at the same time maybe except Akash. The passionate admirer decides to go away. Rani comes to know and tries to stop him.... After that?
The film doesn’t have a promising pair and so doesn’t live up to expectations. Raj who plays Bishal says his dialogues in a strange way at times by showing his teeth and making faces! The only thing about this film which is worth remembering is that this is probably the first time that a ghazal has been sung in a Bengali film. The film is supposed to be a musical, but things just don’t gel. Since the hero is supposed to be an alcoholic, he is seen to be drinking all the time so that makes things even more depressing. Janiva tries to make a comeback after a few years, but isn’t too successful. The character actors like Debdut Ghosh, Dwijen Banerjee and Biswajit Chakrabarty are okay.
