Martin Campbell who has directed good films and not so good films, but still very popular, such as, Golden Eye, Vertical Limit, The Legend of Zorro, Casino Royale and etc. in his entire career he was won 3 awards and was nominated for one time. Being so popular and got chance to work with better cast and crew, but still failed many a times to give atleast one good decent film to watch. This film is another good example of it. Though his direction was a bit good but I am totally upset with the good writers, William Monahan, who has written films like Departed and Body of ... » read more

Edge of Darkness tells the story of Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, twenty-four year-old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. A good comeback Winstone!

This is a first class thriller and you won't be disappointed. The only down side to this is sometimes it was difficult to understand Ray Winstone as he talked too low at times when we really needed to hear what he had to say. Disappointment.

The first 20-minutes of this movie and the last 2-minutes are quite emotional. A box of Kleenex would be in order. Everything else in between is a pure Mel Gibson character doing what he does best: hunting down those who hurt his family. Great stunts too. Game on.

Detective Tom Craven's (Gibson) daughter Emma (Novakovic) ... » read more

    Just About Decent

Edge Of Darkness rating: 0 out of 10

Don’t you just love it when Hollywood makes everything a matter to national security? No? Me neither. Edge Of Darkness is that kind of a movie. The nation is under threat, and for the umpteenth time, there’s only one guy who can do something about it. Everything happens at a very micro level, but the consequences are of course at a macro level.

So we have Thomas Craven, a Boston detective, single parent. The movie begins brilliantly when his daughter gets shot in the initial moments. But then it slips into an obscure storyline that has no novelty about it. It ... » read more
