My Rating

  • How to convert a music album into a film

Ekk Deewana Tha rating: 3 out of 10(Pritam Roy wrote on 17 Feb 2012)

    1. Get 2 beautiful faces (or 1)

Look around for fresh faces and if you want to enjoy a paid foreign trip, land up on foreign shores and choose the first girl you meet for the album nee movie. Only criteria is the girl should be very fair (i.e. available to model for a fairness cream). The guy is not important in an album, except for some basic dancing skills.

    2. Minimize dialogues

Avoid giving any dialogues to the lead pair. Of course, you can't trust their acting skills or even capacity to do proper dubbing. So, most of the dialogues are actually played in the background. When dialogues are absolutely necessary to prove the characters are not deaf / mute, stick to small sentences comprising of no more than 5/6 words each.

    3. Try adding comic element

Add some comic elements, especially related to confusion with a language which could accidentally cause a few laughs.

    4. Beautiful, but cheap locations

Look for some beautiful locales. In a low cost album, where you have spent a large part of the budget for getting a famous music director and looking for a fresh face in foreign country, stick to only two options in India: Goa and Kerala, apart from coastal Maharashtra. Idea is to minimize travel distance and hence cost.

    5. Controversy is name of the game

Circulate stories about the budding romance between the paired couple in the media. And create controversies, including drunken brawls and mushy stuff like first kiss, secret rendezvous, etc. So, people would spend less time looking for a story or wondering about inane dialogues in the movie, and more time, wondering if the lead couple is indeed going around in real life.

    6. Get a BIG name

Hire the services of a reputed music director, whose association could be enough to call it as a musical. If the maestro is busy, he can recycle some songs from the original album / film

    7. Don't look for new ideas

Remix / remake your old album / film. No problem with rights or controversy here. You won't see a story: Director sues self for remaking his own album / film.

    1. Boy loves girl
Problems: Different communities, Girl's father doesn't know Amitabh Bachchan (i.e. films), Girl is older

    2. Girl loves boy
Problem: Suddenly boy becomes busy and no time for call / message.

    3. Girl's marriage fixed by strict father

4a. Ending 1: Boy gets girl or
    4b. Ending 2: Boy doesn't get girl

If interested, choose ending and watch the extended music video, sorry film at a theater near you.
