At the core of the film is the clash of the ideas of parents and children. The parents, with their conservative bend of mind want to marry off their daughter, while Madhumita Mitra, the daughter has a modern way of thinking and does not want to marry, but is married off forcefully. In retaliation she severs all ties with her parents and also destroys her conjugal relalationship. As a result, her mother, father as well as her in-laws suffer from an emotional breakdown. But, when Jayanta uses every trick to woo Mita she returns to her parental home. Even after childbirth she bears hatred towards each and every near and dear ones. Mita only owns her child when she suffers pain and endures much more pain when she realizes that nobody in her family cares much for her and is occupied with themselves. Consequently she returns to her home and begs forgiveness. Everybody is happy alongwith Mita who stays at a place which she calls - "Ekhane Amar Swarga"
