Elegy is adapted from Pulitzer Prize-winner Philip Roths short novel "The Dying Animal".

Driven by Isabel Coixet's direction, "Elegy" is an elegant tale of obsession, which charts the passionate relationship between a celebrated college professor (Ben Kingsley) and an impossibly gorgeous grad student (Penelope Cruz) whose beauty both ravishes and destabilizes him. As their intimate connection transforms them more than either could imagine, a charged sexual contest evolves into an indelible love story. As their relationship deepens, the professor also finds his ego challenged by the girl's enchanting beauty. Dennis Hopper and Patricia Clarkson are co-stars in the movie. With humanistic warmth, wry wit and erotic intensity, Elegy explores the power of beauty to blind, to reveal and to transform.
