Inspector Sam Bharucha (Naseeruddin Shah) is an honest police officer. He encounters four boys in their teens who have resorted to being sharp shooters for easy money. One day on his usual rounds he encounters a shootout between the youth gang and a hotel owner. The suspects are the four boys and Sam starts to investigate this case. He plans on nabbing these youngsters but sadly one of the boys Laylla (Rahul Mahendale) is shot by Sam himself. Sam is so disturbed by his own actions as he has never shot anyone before and believed in reforming culprits instead of punishing them. He feels tremendous and decides to search Laylla's family so that they can perform his last rites. At this time he receives a call from Ponappa Awadhe (Dilip Prabhavalkar) a beer bar owner who offers to help Sam find Laylla's family. But are these really his intentions? Can Sam trust Ponappa?
