Anju Ghosh is the central character of this film which is about a village girl Saptami (Aryn Ghosh). She stays with her brother Pancham (Prosenjit), a music teacher and both of them are honest individuals.. Their parents are dead. They have a uncle (Subhhendu Chatterjee), a doctor who dotes on them. Prosenjit is in love with Champa (Ritiparna Sengupta), younger sister of Chemeli (Pallavi Chatterjee) who is a friend of Saptami. Saptami's marrieded life turns out to be a disaster as she is constantly looked down upon and mentallly tortured by her mother-in-law (Minakshi Goswani) and her sister-in-law Deepa (Sanghamtra Banerjee) who stays at her father's house with a good for nothing husband (Kushik Banerjee). Saptami's husband Dipak is completely anaware of what is going on in the house as he is always busy being a doctor and is uninvolved in the household matters. Champa asks Pancham to get a decent job and settle down. Pancham decides to approch Suraj Agarwal, a cold storage owner (Munel Mukhya), but he turns our to be a cool man who has set has set his eyes on Champa. Meanwhile Pancham is repeatedly insulted by Saptami's in-laws. He becomes dumb due to shock. She wanted to do this so that her brother would never have to bne involved by her in laws but is compoetely unaware that her brother has become deaf. There are a couple of subplots like Deepa being mollested by Suraj Agarwal's goons.
