Esha Deol was born on the 2nd of November 1981 to Hema Malini and Dharmendra. She is the eldest girl of the two daughters, has one sister, Ahana and two step-brothers, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Esha attended the Jamnabai Narsee School and also excelled at Football. She then went to the Oxford University where she obtained A Masters Degree in media Arts and Computer Technology. She has also learnt the classical dance Bharatnatyam from her mother, who is herself an accomplished classical dancer.
Esha got her first break in the year 2002 as lead actress in the Hindi movie, Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche, directed by Vinay Shukla. Though the movie did not make a huge impact, her performance was noticed and appreciated.
After working in a couple of movies, which didn’t make it big at the box office, she got her first big hit with Dhoom in 2004. This was followed by the success of Kaal .Her next movies were No Entry which was also declared as the highest grosser of the year 2005 and she was also largely appreciated in the thriller Dus. Since then her career has been quite stable, she has been appreciated for the roles she did in movies like Ankahee(2006), Just Married(2007), Darling(2007), though the movies have not really been successful at the box office.
There were movies like Churaliya hai tumne(2003),Pyare Mohan(2006), Cash(2007), which have been flops at the box office, and took her career to a stand still. She has been recently seen in an item song in the movie Sunday, which went quite unnoticed.
In 2008, he film One Two Three was a flop.
Esha won the Best Debut actress at the Film Fare awards, Star Screen Award Most Promising Newcomer - Female and Lux New Face Award for the movie Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche.
She is a trained Bharatnatyam & Odissi dancer and does many stage shows along with her mother Hema Malini and sister Aahana. She is proficient in English, Hindi and Tamil. Her favourite actresses are Kajol and Jukia Roberts. During her school days, she was interested in sports and played soccer.
