The movie starts with a marine officer saving a injured person. Marine officer shankar takes the injured person to his doctor father inorder to treat him and avoid any complications with a police enquiry. Shankar goes to shekhar's house inorder to inform about his condition to his family members. There he meets a naughty kid named daaku and shekhars sister. Shekhar was a smuggler and used to work for saggu. Shekhar had three fellow friends with him helping shekhar in every action. Shankar and shekar's sister neelu start meeting more often and they fall in love. But shekhar and his friends wanted neelu to help them in there deals; so they warn her that if she doesnt support them they will kill shanker. So neelu starts avoiding shankar. One day shankar goes to meet shekhar and asks him to stop all this evil stuff. Both fight over this and in an accident shankar shoots shekhar and shekhar dies. Shankar runs away. This whole incident is seen by shekher's neighbour daaku. Daaku knows that neelu likes shankar so he remains silent. He also steals the revolver from the crime sence. The only evidence which the detectives get is a lighter with some letters engraved on it. While coming from school daaku accidentally meets shankar and promises shankar that he won't share that incident with anyone. But shankar thinks that the police can easily get several things from daaku. So both try to run away. But daaku falls in the hand of the police. The police also stop shankar from leaving calcutta. In the court shankar is set free. Daaku proves to the judge that it was an accident and not intentionional.
