This is a story of a family consisting of four bother's - Sarat, Hemanto, Prodip and Amit. Sarat's wife Reva, Hemanto's wife Nisha, Nibha's child Nita, their widow mother Daya Mayi, their servant Natwar and an ophan girl Mita (Debasree) all lived together. Amit Kumar was the second youngest brother. His ambition was to become a great singer. The entire movie shows his journey from a normal boy to a rock star. Mita was his lover. Sarat and Hemanto were the only earning members in the family, due to which they ill-treated each and every member of the family. Whenever someone asked for any sort of financial help from both of them, they refused to give money to any of them. Their wives tortured Mita a lot. She was treated as a maid-servent by them. Finally, Amit decided to leave the house to become something in his life. He goes to Mumbai to test his luck. But he was not getting any chance to enter the glamorous music world. One day while sitting on the sea-shore he meets Romen (Chiranjeet) who also once had come to Mumbai to become a musician, but failed to achieve his goal. Romen inspired Amit to have faith in himself and took him to his house. One day while they were enjoying on the sea-shore (Amit was singing a song) Panchamda (R D Burman) heard Amit's song and gave him a chance in his movie as a playback singer. Steadily Amit became a superstar in the music world. He then decided to go to Kolkata to meet his family but he was shocked to see that Prodip was being beaten by some criminals because Prodip disclosed his two brother's Hemanto and Sarat deeds infront of the police and his mother. (Sarat and Hemanto falsely captured her mother's house by which she earned her livelihood). Ultimately Prodip dies. And Amit gets everything in return of his younger brother's life.
