    "Geet" is a film about the love, seperation and reunion of two tallented singers. Kamla (Mala Sinha), a famous singer and dancer travels to a hilly village of Shimla and falls for innocent Sarju ( Rajendra Kumar) who sings and plays flute briliantly. Kamla pleads Sarju to go to Bombay to be famous through his art. Sarju denies and asks kamla to stay in the village. kCircumstances leads Sarju to go to the city and to pain the drama company where kamla works. Sarju is groomed properly and becomes very famous as asinger. The owner of the dram company, kunwar sahab (Sujit kumar) wants to marry kamla and conspires to kill Sarju. Sarju falls prey to a mock accident arranged by kunwar sahabn and becomes dumb as a result of the head injury. Consequencially, kamla's father is murdered by kunwar sahab's sidekick and the blame is on Sarju. Sarju kicked out of kamla's house and starts kunwar sahab's men. Later he leaves his sister's house and starts working as a labourer. While playing flute he gets noticed by a rich man who is an ardent lover of music. Sarju gets to perform in radio by the help of this kind hearted man and his sistger finds him out. HOwecer, kamla promises kunwar sahab to marry him ofcourse with a heavy heart. Kunwar Sahab again tries to kill Sarju but he miraeulously gets his voice and life back. Police arrests Kunwar Sahab and the truth is revealed to kamla. She attempts suicide but controls herself seeing Sarju alive. The film,ends with hint that they return to the village and live happily ever after.
