Not a Loss at all…..
In Bollywood Action films have always been integral part. Some are hardcore blood running violence, some are more of fist and kicks and major ones are mindless stuff. The action films what we saw in earlier era were full of murder, rapes, revenge, cop n Robber chase, etc. but now in 2008 the action if not typical but brutal and direct to the point. That’s what we see in “Ghajini”, which besides having good Action stuff has a thrilling story line too.
“Ghajini ” is story of Sanjay Singhania [Aamir Khan], a buissness tycoon who is suffering from a short term memory loss. Despite the Problem he has only one thing to achive and that is to kill Ghajini [Pradeep Rawat], who has killed Sanjay’s Beloved Kalpana [Asin]. How does Sanjay reach Ghajini with his problem of memory loss is what all the film about.
Story has loads of twist and turns along with lots of inspiration from International cinema as well as our old hindi film. The romance Part of Aamir-Asin is highly inspired by Basu Chatterjee’s “Pasand Apani Apni” , which still appears fresh and enjoyable. Screenplay is powerfull and keeps you totally enrolled in the film. The thriller element is a positive point and works in favour of the film. Editing is good, but “Latoo” and few more scene in first half could have been edited to make the film more sharp. Camera work is great and does proper justice to the film. Action’s are good, but at times bit over the top and unconvincing.
A.R.Rehman has been persistence in giving us great music . “Guzarish”, “Behka Behka” are visual treat. “Kaise” and “Eh Bacchu” are nice and enjoyable. Latoo has good choreography but could had been avoided. Backgroudn music is good and keeps up the mood of the film.
A. R. Murugadoss is a good story teller and has his own unique way, Though at many places the regional touch looks prominent. By changing the location from south to Mumbai does not change the feel of the film. on positive side he has given us perfect blend of Romance and Action in this film. both are perfectly balanced through out the film. its only in the climax where action takes up totally over the other factor, though one does miss some emotional connection in those scenes. His decision of choosing manual fist fight in climax scene is good but also raises plenty of questions.
Its very hard to imagine Aamir Khan doing this type of actions in the film, but he is aamir khan the actor who can potray his part with total conviction and different. His way of playing with his looks works in the favor of the film. he essays both role of lover and revenge taker with cent percent satisfaction. Watch him roar in “The Incredible hulk” style when he gets angry and the scenes where he looses his memory and comes back to stage zero, only a actor with such finness of Aamir Khan can do it. Asin is sweet and charming. She is total confident and brings up spark whenever she comes on the screen. Yes we do feel of wanting her more in the film at times. Pradeep Rawat and Jia Khan along with Tinnu Anand are good and have done their part with total conviction.
So Bol Meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hain dum?
Dum hain, kaafi dum hain. It’s a good action romantic thriller, which need some few minutes of good editing in first half. Its not a typical Aamir Khan type of cinema but Still with all the hype, good music, good performance by lead pair and gripping direction makes this film total paisa vasool masala entertainer. Go out and watch the film without much expectation and when you will come out you will feel its not a loss to watch this film.
