An 'Amir Khan' release, and 'inspired by Memento' were enough to pull me into the 'first day night show' for Ghajini (night because that is the earliest I can catch any movie on a Friday). But I have to admit - I was disappointed! In fact, I came out of the movie hall with a headache!
Amir's performance - as usual, was brilliant. However, not enough to make the movie work for me. It felt like watching a South Indian channel with Amir in it. Asin irritated me with overdoing her scenes, and Jiah didn't have to try much to manage that.
Moreover, I felt the movie bore great potential to be interesting, but turned out to be very repetitive, slow and disturbing. Memento, on the other hand, keeps you at the edge of your seat, and makes you concentrate like hell :) (I remember watching the first 15 minutes again - to get a hang of the movie).
The songs only made the movie last longer, and added nothing to the story, 'Ghajini' (the name) made me sick after being repeated some 1000 times in the movie, and everything became very predictable after a while.
The last 'Taare Zameen Par' sequence was like a relief - that finally the movie is over!!!
Superb marketing, excellent work by Amir (both on his body, as well as in his acting). But yeah, one could give it a miss...easily, I'd say!
