Good Luck Chuck starts off with Chuck playing spin the bottle as a kid. His spin lands on a scary gothic girl and he ends up trying to fight her off. She wants to see Chuck’s penis, Chuck refuses, so she places a curse on him that every woman he ever sleeps with will break up with him and then find her soul mate.
Cut to an all-grown Chuck (Dane Cook) who has become a dentist. At the wedding of one of his ex-girlfriends, Chuck meets Cam (Jessica Alba) who works in a dolphin habitat centre and falls head over heels in love with her. But he’s dated three of her friends and so she doesn’t want to date him. Meanwhile, Chuck’s lucky charm becomes well known and he gets a slew of women running after him, all desperate to have sex with him so that they can then find their true love. While Chuck has a merry ride with tons of females, he keeps pursuing Cam and finally manages to date her. But he can’t sleep with her, even though she wants to, because he’s afraid that she’ll also then find someone else. So, can Chuck resist making love to the woman he loves? Watch the movie to find out.
Good Luck Chuck is an extremely funny romantic comedy, written by Josh Stolberg and directed by Mark Helfrich. It didn’t receive good reviews (was called one of the worst films of 2007), but I enjoyed it. Jessica Alba looks lovely (and has acted well too), Dane Cook has put in a good performance as well and Dan Fogler is simply hilarious as Chuck’s fat friend.
A bundle of laugh, and a bevy of blondes going topless, Good Luck Chuck is wonderful slapstick.
